Get to Know the Aging Princess – or About Me

But first, a little about the blog-

I’m so glad you’ve dropped by the Castle! This is a place where people just like you and I can share ideas and information about life and living gracefully with chronic disease – which in my case is fibromyalgia.

Having a chronic disease stinks, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t keep LIVING! And that’s where Aging Princess comes in. I’ve dealt with the cursed fibro for over 40 years, give or take few, and I think that means I have EXPERIENCE.

I created this blog to share ways to cope, ways to improve and anything else I think might help you improve your lives or the lives of someone you love.

But, you don’t have to be ill to enjoy this blog, because a lot of what I share applies whether you are healthy or not.

And now, a little about me…Now that the serious stuff is out of the way.

That’s why you’re here, right? I’m a happily married mother of two grown sons that just happens to have fibromyalgia. I’m a Bible-believing Christian, and if that offends you, I’m sorry, but that’s who I am. In fact, it’s what defines me the most.

I received a formal fibromyalgia diagnosis when I was about 40. Before that, I had spent years trying to figure out why I had all these crazy symptoms. (By the way, I’m in my mid-50’s now.)

Looking back, I’ve been dealing with fibro-like problems since I was 8 years old. A dune-buggy crash left me with a terrible concussion that summer. That’s when I know something changed. But that’s a whole other story…

Since that time, I suffered from a lot of random problems that never made sense. That is, until I learned about fibro. It may seem crazy to you, but I was actually relieved when I received a diagnosis. At least then I knew I wasn’t really in need of psychiatric help, like one of my doctors suggested.

Life is Better Than Ever

Today, after years of learning to manage my disease, I can honestly say my life is better than ever! That’s why I started this blog. Perhaps by sharing my experiences with you, I can help you, or someone you love, avoid some of the heartbreaks and pitfalls I had to work through to get where I am now.

So, I hope you’ll stay as my guest in the Castle for a while! Let’s get to know each other! I bet that together, we can find ways to live gracious lives and help others along the way!
